Goals After taking this course, students will understand the underlying causes of international trade and will learn analytical tools that will enable them to critically evaluate existing trade policies.
Course Content Topics such as classical theories of trade, neoclassical foreign trade theories, Heckscher-Ohlin analysis, factor prices and distribution analyzes, different trade and industrialization experiences, protectionist policiaes and alternative foreign trade regimes and political economics will be discussed.In addition, the effects of tariffs, non-tariff barriers and quotas will be emphasized. Economic integration and foreign trade in developing countries will also be covered in this course.

2) Evaluates existing trade theories from a critical point of view
3) Learns the analytical tools to understand international trade theories
