About Program
Department of Biostatistics is an active department since 1995 and has 5 full time faculty members including 2 Professors, 2 Associate Professors and 1 Assistant Professor. The compulsory courses offered by the department are; Statistical Methods for Decision Making, Multiple Logistic Regression Analysis, Biostatistical Consulting, Generalized Linear Models. The elective courses are both theoretical and applied courses for advanced statistical methods which has applications in health, education and psychometry fields.
Goals
The aim of this graduate program is to train indivuduals who; knows the advanced statistical methods and their applications to various disciplines, develops problem-specific solutions when existing methods are not adequate, develops programs where the new statistical analysis that is not yet included in the present statistical packages by using his/her theoretical knowledge, uses his/her communication skills to consult/lead scientific researches.
Summary of Program Outcomes
The students who completes this program are able to; plan and conduct studies and projects from both health sciences and other disciplines, choose the appropriate statistical methods suitable for the data structure and interpret the results and when in situations where the present methods are not adequate develop problem-specific solutions, keep up with the latest developments and literature, assess the studies by using the essential statistical packages, avoid statistical bias and act upon the ethical principles in each stage of a scientific research.
