About Program
Language of education of the Master Program in Linguistics is Turkish. However, due to the nature of the field, it is highly significant for the students to have a command of at least one foreign language, both in terms of having a distinct sensitivity for the language system in general and being able to follow the studies in the field. Having a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics is not a prerequisite for the application. Yet, Scientific Preparation is a must for the candidates with a different major.
Goals
The main objective of the program is to provide adequate qualifications with a view to provide solutions to the major problems of the field and to conduct original research based on scientific theories and criteria.
Summary of Program Outcomes
Graduates of the Master Program in Linguistics can identify the basic concepts of linguistics, explain the concepts related with the subfields of linguistics, integrate knowledge acquired from the theoretical and practical fields of linguistics with the information obtained from different related disciplines, describe the universal aspects of languages and their uses according to different communicational goals, use scientific methods and techniques in the studies, develop and deepen knowledge related with the field to the proficiency level by taking cultural, scientific, and ethic values into consideration and using metacognitive skills.
