Italian Language and Literature of the doctoral program in which students learn  processes and authors in different periods of Italian literature which are examined for their contribution in this process.It is also the main objective to evaluate and understand its place in world literature and culture of Italian literature.

The Italian Language and Literature PHD Program offers Italian literature and culture courses on Italian classic writers such as Dante, Boccaccio, Petrarca, Ariosto, Leopardi, Manzoni, Fogazzaro, D’Annunzio, Foscolo, Verga and the modern ones like Primo Levi, Luigi Pirandello, Antonio Tabucchi, Umberto Saba e Umberto Eco etc. The Italian Language and Literature PHD Program also provides knowledge about the Italian literary criticism and its effect on the Italian writers. PHD program aims to one focusing on literature and language studies. Our studies are often interdisciplinary with main areas of humanistic studies such as translation and linguistic. Every aspects of literature such as poetry, prose and theatre is studied at Italian Language and Literature Department of Ankara University, and provides students a wide range of literary perception of Italy.

Graduates are able to read and examine the primary sources about the Italian language and literature. Realize Italian-related events and establish a connection between these events.
