About Program
Challenges faced by water managers in the world and in our country require leaders to be skilled at overcoming social, environmental and technological boundaries, combining knowledge from different disciplines and transforming theoretical knowledge into practice. Hence, the need for specialists in water management and institutions to train future leaders is increasing all over the world. Our country is among the risky countries in terms of climate change and the effects of global warming. For this reason, all kinds of research, development and training activities to be carried out in the water management in our country and policy making, coordination, legislation and standards development, activities have become urgent and important. In this context, universities and institutes have serious duties in order to cooperate with all the public institutions that are active in water management in our country, to develop projects, to conduct research activities and to train specialist personnel. The Water Management Institute aims to carry out research, development and training activities aimed at solving water problems at local, national and international scale. The interdisciplinary "Integrated Water Management" program enables the training of experts on water management. Our associates will have the chance to find jobs both in project and consultancy firms operating in water, as well as in relevant government agencies. Our missions will gain competence at international level for the solution of increasingly globalized water problems and create opportunities for international cooperation.
Due to the fact that the water management is an interdisciplinary science discipline, it is necessary for the department of Integrated Water Management, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Political Sciences, Faculty of Languages and History-Geography, Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Science, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Faculty of Pharmacy it will be a multidisciplinary structure, cooperation and interaction with science branches. Thus, according to the integrated water management approach, all the effects that water is exposed to from the source of the water can be systematically examined in terms of environment, politics, law, science, culture, engineering, economy, health and society.
Goals
The Water Management Institute aims to solve complex water problems through integrated water surveys. Bringing together different research teams and conducting interdisciplinary water surveys; policy makers and water managers to collaborate with university lecturers and students is among the objectives of the Institute. The Integrated Water Management Programme focuses on providing unique and critical thinking on water-related national and global issues, generating innovative solutions to practical problems, providing statistics and data management, knowledge transfer and leadership skills. The institute aims to train its future leaders in water management, to improve its capacities and to meet the special needs of institutions and organizations active in water in our country. The program aims to provide students with an interdisciplinary approach to develop and implement innovative solutions to local, regional, national and international water management issues.
