About Program

Turkish Sign Language Translation Master's Degree Program with Thesis has been prepared to create the academic background required for doctorate level studies which will enable the study of Sign Languages and Turkish Sign Language Translation as an independent and scientific research field similar to those in universities around the world.   

Goals

The aim of the Turkish Sign Language Translation Master's Degree Program with Thesis is to train expert Turkish Sign Language Translators that have language awareness of Turkish, Sign Languages and Turkish Sign Language, that have knowledge of the cultures and institutions of both languages, that have theoretical and critical knowledge in translation and at the same time have practical experience, and have knowledge and are familiar with the terminology of the fields like social sciences, political science, economics, literature, history. In addition to the other conditions, the students who will participate in the program are required to have at least B1 level of Turkish Sign Language proficiency.

Summary of Program Outcomes

To train Turkish Sign Language Translators who are able to use their working languages effectively in different communication situations and who have theoretical and critical knowledge in the field of translation and at the same time have the practical experience and are able to continuously improve their knowledge and skills in daily life and professional environments.
