Goals The purpose of this course is, for those who follow the same, to acquire competences as to conceive, interpret and apply rules, principles and institutions of international law on various definitions thereof, views on its binding source, formal sources, treaties, customary law, general principles, state and its elements, international organizations and their elements, United Nations and use of force, land territory, air law, maritime law, diplomacy.
Course Content In line with its purpose, the contents of the course include, essentially, fundamental rules, principles and institutions of international law.
Learning Outcomes 1) To list views and theories on material source and binding force of international law.
2) To discuss matters related to state in international law taking recent developments into consideration.
3) To examine theories on international organisations and structure and operation of the United Nations.
4) Able to analyse international legal rules on use of force along with concrete examples.
5) To apply legal methodology and interpretation techniques on examining decisions of the International Court of Justice.
6) To examine views and theories on creation and binding force of international customary rules.
7) To compare rules of customary international law with other formal sources of international law.
8) To list spatial rules of international law.
9) To discuss how rules of maritime law may be applied in concrete disputes.
10) To explain rules according to which relations between states may be conducted.
