Goals To comprehend the Roman law, which has an indisputable effect on contemporary civil law systems and therefore on the Turkish legal system and to comprehend the institutions, principles and concepts of Roman law and to compare them with the concepts of contemporary legal systems.
Course Content Roman Law History, Fundamental Concepts of Roman Law, Roman legal procedure, Roman Law of Obligations, Roman Property Law
Learning Outcomes 1) Students who take this course define Roman law and understand its importance.
2) Students who take this course learn Roman political history and its relations with legal institutions.
3) Students who take this course be familiar with the historical development of the concepts encountered in the course of law and compare the concepts of contemporary law with the concepts of Roman law.
4) Students who take this course learns the concept of obligation, types of contracts, characteristics of contracts, termination of contracts, delicts and legal responsibility and establish a basis for the law of obligations.
5) Students who take this course learn the basic concepts of Roman Property law and determines its differences from contemporary property law.
