Goals This course aims to give the basic knowledge on the techniques and methods used in archaeological excavations and surveys and the relative laws and regulations. In the second half of the course the students will be familiarised with basic information about different measurement techniques on the field and technical drawing applications on archaeological materials and structures.
Course Content Excavation, survey and documentation techniques; introduction to basic topography; methods and equipments used in topographical measurements; drawing techniques; computer programs used in topographical studies and drawing applications.
Learning Outcomes 1) Gains knowledge on different methods and techniques used at archaeological excavations and surveys.
2) Gains knowledge on documentation techniques used in Near Eastern Archaeology.
3) Gains knowledge on the materials and equipments used in topographical measurements and drawings and gains practical skills on how to use them.
4) Gains knowledge on basic topographical measurements and learns how to handle several problems on the field.
5) Learns drawing techniques used both on the field and on archaeological objects.
6) Learns different drawing techniques and gains knowledge and practice on which one to choose for different purposes.
7) Learns fundamental computer applications used in archaeology.
