Goals The aim of the lecture is to teach the fundamentals of surgery, important standards, procedures and behavioral principles in surgery, instruments, equipment and materials used in surgery, important surgical diseases and conditions.
Course Content Fundamentals of surgery, medical ethics, secure surgery concept and responsibilities, important standards, practices and principles in surgery, rules and importance of pre-, intra-, post-operative period, anesthesia and pain management, asepsis / antisepsis, disinfection and sterilization, basic surgical procedures, surgical equipments and materials, inflammation, bleeding, wound, burn, cancer, fluid-electrolyte balance, shock, some surgical diseases and conditions, having importance of the organ systems.
Learning Outcomes 1) They effectively use the knowledge, skills and competencies related to the Operating Room and Surgery in the professional field with the awareness of lifelong learning.
2) They recognize fundamentals of surgery.
3) They identify the surgical instruments.
4) They have knowledge of basic surgical diseases on the organ systems in the body.
5) They use theoretical knowledge about Surgical Diseases and Procedures in practice.
6) They are well up on inflammation, shock, burns, wound, etc.
7) Students know the operating room rules and the principles of behavior in the operating room.
