Goals The aim of the course is to acquaint students with various theories of literature and traditional and modern methods of criticism.
Course Content The course starts with Plato and Aristotle and continues with the work on Chaucer’s, Sydney’s and Dryden’s theories of literature. We apply the traditional and modern theories to some of the works we have already learned.
Learning Outcomes 1) This course provides students with the ability of evaluating literary texts.
2) to have knowledge about American history, political life, sociological and economical conditions
3) To have knowledge about American literature from its beginning up till now.
4) To be able to evaluate, criticize some samples of drama, poetry and novel genres in American Literature
