Goals AKE 410 20th-Century American Drama is devoted to the study of twentieth-century American theatre and drama from Tennessee Williams, Edward Albee and Sam Shepard. The course also focuses on principles of dramatic structure, including the interpretation of structural elements of major dramatic forms and styles in relation to stage presentation and film, and reading and analysis of representative plays. Innovations in the modern drama and the intersection between the theatre and other disciplines (psychoanalysis, social criticism, etc.) are studied throughout the course.
Course Content This course analyzes the 20th Century American Drama.
