Goals One of the main aim of the course is the identification of garden art and open space culture till prehistoric period. On one hand, to set the conceptual & theroethical base of garden design and art in different civiizations through history and on the other hand, to develop the ability of using the design clues and conceptual background of garden & landscape art obtained\gathered from history.
Course Content The determinations related with garden & landscape ar is given such as garden, courtyard\patio, piatza, vineyard, recreational open spaces, etc. as the sub componenets of garden & open space design. The evaluation of environmental design, garden history& landscape design throught history in anatolian civilizations till prehistoric period up today as well as some important civilizations at global scale are discussed. Garden & landscape design in Egypt, Mesopotamia, Eagian civilizations & Anatolian civilizations namely Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Seljuhid, Ottoman & Republic periods, India, Iranian & Islamic period are given. Besides, garden concept (&it’s development through history) in the middle ages, Renaissance, Baroque period as well as Chinese, Japonese, Fareast cultures & European cultures such as Angland, France & Italy are evaluated.
Learning Outcomes 1) Discuss the evolution of garden&landscape art throughout history
2) Interorete the theorethical bachground of the garden design approaches seen in different cultures & civilizations
3) Interprate the data obtained from the garden design approaches of different cultures and civilizations in actual landscape design projects
