Goals This course aims to draw a conceptual framework for the basic dynamics of the international relations and world politics and introduce the particular tools for the analysis. The theme is the transformation of the modern state and the other structures of the international system in history as well as the operation and order of the contemporary politics.
Course Content To discuss the limits of Political Science and International Relations in social sciences through the concept of state and study the historical formation and transformation of the peculiar features of the modern state such as sovereignty, legitimacy, autonomy and power with the impact of globalization since the mid-20th century. To investigate these theoretical issues with reference to the sovereignty and legality crises of different states in order to develop a deeper understanding for contemporary international relations
Learning Outcomes 1) Have knowledge on the basic concepts of international politics such as state, power, security, international system
2) Intensify the knowledge with the case studies
3) Have a basic level knowledge about Turkish foreign policy
