Goals To be able to learn basic knowledge (Collection of biological evidence from the scene, DNA sources, methods of obtaining DNA, polymorphic systems used from past to present and basic principles of population genetics, identification) and laboratory studies in forensic genetics, to interpret the results, to provide active participation of the students and to use these knowledge in future projects.
Course Content Structure and properties of DNA, Genomic structure, Biological material, DNA isolation and analysis, Polymerase chain reaction, Mutation and SNP, DNA markers used for identification (RFLP, STR Y-STR), DNA Markers used for identification (X-STr, mtDNA, SNP), Mitochondrial DNA Analysis, Article Discussion and homework presentation
Learning Outcomes 1) To be able to learn forensic genetic analiysis basic information and laboratory studies, to interpret the results
2) To create the ability to produce new projects with forensic genetic analysis basic information
3) To understand the common areas of forensic genetic analysis information with other disciplines
