Goals The aim of the course is to teach the historical development of physical planning in general, landscape planning theories and methods in particular, in this context systematic structuring of landscape planning process, and the importance and content of post-implementation management of planning which is a futuristic field of action.
Course Content The course consists of three main parts: landscape planning theory and methods, urban landscape planning and rural landscape planning. Within the scope of landscape planning theories and methods; ecology, ecotopia, planning-design differentiation, classification of landscape, landscape planning, landscape management, preservation of landscapes and similar "concepts"; and "planning approaches" of the landscape planners such as McHARG, Lewis, Hills are explained. Within the context of urban landscape planning; open and green areas systems and standards and urban open and green area development in different planning periods of Ankara in this frame; is taught in association with; the development of the idea of urban planning whithin the concept of cities and urbanization, urban utopias, the spatial context of modernism and postmodernism, as well as urbanization and population dynamics in pre-1980 and post-urbanization in Turkey. Within the context of rural landscape planning; planning criteria related to rural use types (picnic, camping, tourism, and other) of rural landscape are explained.
