Goals The course is to teach the definition and properties of remote sensing, using in fisheries of remote sensing systems, electromagnetic radiation spectrum and its properties, remote sensing platforms, sensors, using in determining of fish schools and monitoring of fishery activities of remote sensing systems.
Course Content The main topics of this course are the definition and history of remote sensing system, general properties of electro-magnetic radiation (EMR) spectrum, remote sensing platforms, sensors and properties of remote sensing systems, active and passive sensors, peripheral satellites and properties, sensors and properties of peripheral satellites, environmental satellites and properties, Geographical Information systems (GIS) data and Digital Image Processing used in remote sensing and application of remote sensing to fisheries and fish stocks
Learning Outcomes 1) The course teaches using in fisheries of system and technique of remote sensing
2) The course informs on electromagnetic wavelengths related with remote sensing of electromagnetic radiation spectrum.
3) The course informs about platforms, active and passive sensors used in remote sensing.
4) The course teaches the remote sensing techniques used in detection, distribution and abundance determination of fish schools.
5) The course teaches on satellites and properties collecting environmental and oceanographic data related with fisheries.
6) The course teaches planning and applying the using of remote sensing technique in monitoring of fishery activities related with tuna and other fish stocks.
