Goals -'Communication Theories 1' course aims to enable students to comprehend the dimensions of the institutionalization of the field of communication by discussing and explaining the theories developed in the field of communication within the framework of general social theory.
Course Content The 'Communication Theories 1' course deals with and explains the theories developed in the field of communication within the framework of general social theory.
Learning Outcomes 1) Evaluates the development of mass communication research in the light of socio-political developments accompanying these developments.
2) Defines the communication area.
3) Defines the concepts of communication, mass and mass communication.
4) Explain the relationship between communication, mass and mass communication concepts.
5) Explain the tradition of mass society.
6) Defines the concept of mass culture.
7) Explains the basic theories developed in the field of mass communication by periodizing.
8) Explains the period of strong influence
9) explain the concepts of two-stage flow and opinion leaders.
10) Evaluates the encounter and separation of managerial and critical perspective.
11) Evaluates the long-term effects of mass media
12) Explain audience-oriented research.
13) Evaluates the theoretical consequences of the media itself being the object of study.

15) Compares the liberal approach with the critical approach.
