Goals This course aims to provide the knowledge that how does migration take place and discuss the relationships between migration, space and place within the discipline of geography.
Course Content This course contains the major themes in geography of migration. More specifically, firstly, the course deals with the conceptual and historical contrinbutions of migration. Secondly, the course focuses on international migration issues such as return, circular and onward migration decision and labour market conditions of immigrants. Thirdly, the topics of the course focus on migration effects on destination areas and then migration effects on sending areas. Finally, the last topics deal with the migration and policy, depressed regions acrtoss the world and migration in a post-global era.
Learning Outcomes 1) Obtains the further conceptual knowledge about the relationships between migration and space.
2) Uses field specific geographical methodologies for the research design.
3) Plans and manages projects, research goals related to the geographies of migration.
