Goals It is aimed to teach topics such as role and functions of social work to prevent poverty and determiners of poverty at micro and macro level, reasons of poverty in Turkey and world, definitions of poverty, culture of poverty, poverty as a social and economic problem and leanings at poverty.

Learning Outcomes 1) S/he comprehends poverty and types of poverty.
2) S/he understands causes of poverty
3) S/he explains effects of poverty on individuals, families and societies globalization process
4) S/he discusses the impact of poverty on disadvantaged individuals or groups such as women, children, youth, elderly, disabled people.
5) S/he understands the characteristics of poverty psychology and poverty culture
6) S/he makes the link between poverty and human rights
7) S/he explain the relationship between poverty and social assistance.

Measurement and Evaluation Methods and Techniques
The course will be evaluated in terms of just 1 mid-term exam( % 40 ) and 2 homeworks ( % 10 during the term and the results of final exam (%50 ) at the end of term.
