Goals The aim of the “Principles of Animal Breeding” subject is to prepare the students to the education programm of the Animal Breeding Department. Purpose of the course to train the students in the following subjects: Animal husbandry types, selection and animal improvement, objective and subjective assesments, breeding systems, nutrition principles of various animal species, breeding practices, principles of meat-milk-egg-fleece and mohair production.
Course Content In order to prepare students for departmental courses and teaching, general animal husbandry information in the animal husbandry field (business types, animal breeding principles, animal ecology, animal behaviors), animal husbandry principles and special livestock breeding (cattle, sheep, goat, poultry) are given in concise .
Learning Outcomes 1) Can discuss the animal production systems.
2) Knows the basic rules of selection and animal breeding.
3) Can compare objective and subjective evaluation methods.
4) Knows livestock farming business and operations.
5) Understand basics of animal nutrition.
6) Can discuss processes of production of animal products
