Goals The aim of the course is to introduce students to major issues and approaches to production and reception of news. It also offers a discussion on news production processes in the sociological context of news media.
Course Content The emergence of news as a specific kind of knowledge, its historical transformations are studied before exploring, by means of examples, news texts, their production processes and reception practices in the framework of liberal, critical Marxist and phenomenological approaches. Furthermore, the relationship between news and freedoms, news and gender are displayed. The changes occurred in news practices by the new media are also explored with different examples from Turkey and all around the world.

3) Evaluating the relations between news produciton and news texts
