Goals This course which is a continuation of the philosophy of Antiquity, aims at: introduicing to students, most of the time by referencing to the text, the philosophers and philosophical movements that occur during the period ranging from the Renaissance to contemporary philosophy;defining proximity or oppositions between the idea and currents; detecting the extent and implications of the issues discussed in terms of theology and debating if this thoughts could be whether or not answer to solve today's problems.
Course Content Antiquity, Medieval Philosophy and Modern Philosophy (A perspective); Renaissance Philosophy I; Philosophy of the Renaissance and the Reformation; 17th Century Philosophy and Descartes; Descartes and Cartesian Philosophy; Spinoza; Leibniz; Empiricism; Hume and Berkeley; Enlightenment and Kant (Knowledge Conception); Kant's Moral Values; After Kant's Philosophy: Hegel and the Romantics; XX. Century and Contemporary Philosophy.
Learning Outcomes 1) After this course, the student will be able to: Explain the basic problems and the major thinkers of New Age philosophy.
2) Know being, knowledge and moral conceptions of Early modern philosophers.
3) Master the relationship between philosophy and culture.
4) Explain philosophy and religion answers to today's issues.
5) Perceive the theoretical background of the reality of the social world where he/she lives, thanks to the knowledges that he/she acquired.
