Goals The student should be able to obtain general knowledge about early and living religious-political Islamic Sects. He/she should obtain the objective approach to religious diversification and make a contribution to collective life culture.
Course Content Description of the discipline; basic concepts, causes of emergence of the politico-religious movements (madhhabs); the political and theological diversifications in religious understanding and the process of institutionalization; causes of the emergence of the madhhabs, their formative periods, fundamental views, sub-groups; their effects and contributions to İslamic Thought.
Learning Outcomes 1) Knowledge about the reasons for the formations of sects in Islamic culture and the basic concepts is acquired.
2) The different religiousness models that the sects provide is discussed and learned
3) Sect/religion relation and the basic functions of sect from the viewpoint of culture of religion is known.
