Goals To give the possibility of evaluating Islamic and Western thought in terms of "other" to compare the similarities and differences between Islamic and Western thought, and for this purpose, comparative Islamic classics and Western classics to read.
Course Content To examine and discuss Islam and Western philosophy on texts comparatively.
Learning Outcomes 1) Learns the domestic and foreign sources of Islamic philosophy.
2) Recognize the unique aspects of the views set forth in subjects such as existence, knowledge, metaphysics, soul-body, which are the main problems of Islamic philosophy.
3) Able to know the effects of philosophers such as Farabi, Avicenna, Ibn Rushd and Ghazali on Western philosophy related to the above mentioned areas.
4) Knows the contributions of the philosophers such as Aguinas, Descartes, Kant and Pascal directly or indirectly in the formation of their opinions on these issues.
5) He knows the basic problemsand the major works of Western philosophy.
6) Gains knowledge of the determinants of intercultural interaction through the transfer of philosophy to the West.
7) Makes comparisons based on philosophical texts between Islamic philosophy and Western philosophy.
8) Analyzes the parallels and distinctions between Islam and Western thought.
9) Learns the importance and way of thinking by way of comparison.
