Goals The student learns about 18th and 19th century thought trends. In addition the student is informed about studies of the New Ilm al-Kalam in order to defend the principles of Islamic belief in the rational basis.
Course Content 18th and 19th century thought trends.
Learning Outcomes 1) Students who take the course knows the basic claims of 18th and 19th century thought movements.
2) The student who takes the course will be informed about the content and methodology of the New Ilm al-Kalam studies.
3) The religious thought that took place in the last period of the Ottoman Empire can grasp and analyze the renewal efforts, methodology and contributions and effects.
