Ever since the foundation of Language and History-Geography Faculty,Department of German Language and Literature has maintained education and training activities,German Literatures (German, Austraian, Switzerland Literature) and it is predicated on the basis of German Language's diachronic and synchronical research,study and instruction. After the students are brought in basic German knowledge in prep class,education runs German Linguistics and Literature and Science in eight semester.In this context bilateral translation lessons,language history,literary history,literary seminar,Medieval German Language,Intercultural Literature are analysed with examples and make comparison with Turkish Literature.

Deparment of German Language and Literature aims to educate the students in a level of license German Language History,German Literature History,German Culture, Linguistics and translation and it opens programs at a level of post graduate and doctorate.

Knows under which literary epoch a in german written text or a text from the german literature is counted. Proves the sociological background and its authors influence to the epoch. Can identify and analyze the rhetoric figures and stilistical features in literary textes. Konows the characteristics of German culture. Translates literary textes, articles, legal textes German to Turkish and from Turkish to German.
