About Program

Founded in 1935 with the establishment of the Faculty of Language, History and Geography as the “Institute of Hungarology” under the presidency of Hungarian Turcologist Prof. Dr. László Rásónyi, Hungarology, which continues to work as Turkey's first and only Hungarology program, started its studies as an auxiliary field of science to Turcology, teaching Hungarian language, history and literature. 
Acting with this founding philosophy, Hungarology today is a program that teaches Hungarian language as an independent academic field, deals with Hungarian language, literature and culture, Turkish-Hungarian relations with a historical approach to the present day, examines Hungarian culture from daily life studies to artistic disciplines with theoretical and practical studies and aims to provide students with basic equipment in the field of Hungarology.


The Department of Hungarology continues its activities with 1 Professor, 2 Associate Professors, 1  Assistant Professor ,1 Dr. Lecturer, 1 Hungarian specialist and 1 Hungarian guest lecturer dr.

Goals

In 1935, with the establishment of the Faculty of Language, History and Geography as the “Institute of Hungarology” under the chairmanship of Hungarian Turcologist Prof. Dr. László Rásónyi, Hungarology has been active as an auxiliary discipline in Turkish language and literature, cultural studies, history and other fields related to Turcology in order to contribute to Turkish scientific life in line with its founding objectives and philosophy. Today, Hungarology (Hungarian Studies), as an independent academic field, aims to provide students with an academic foundation and equipment with a historical approach to contemporary Hungarian language, culture, literature, and Turkish-Hungarian relations with its academic staff specialized in their fields. In addition to this, it aims to introduce Hungarian Turkology, which has a deep-rooted tradition of Turkology all over the world, and Turkologists, their fields of study, methods and techniques in Turkiye, to bring the relevant works into Turkish, to put forward original studies on Turkish and Hungarian language, history, literature, culture, and to research our common history and culture, Our main objectives are to educate students who are knowledgeable about all these issues, who use scientific methodologies, information and communication technologies effectively, who have creative and critical thinking, and who are qualified individuals who will work in the field of Hungarology and serve as academicians and linguists. Summary of Program Outcomes

Students learn Hungarian, have a comprehensive knowledge of Hungarian grammar. Have comprehensive knowledge about Hungarian phonetics. Develops Hungarian vocabulary. Gains knowledge of Hungarian-Turkish translation techniques, gains knowledge about the periods and representatives of Hungarian literature, recognizes Hungarian culture and cultural history, recognizes Hungarian social life, cinema and other major art disciplines. Have comprehensive knowledge about Turkish-Hungarian relations throughout history.
