About Program
The Department of Greek Language and Literature established in 1991 with in the department of Western Languages and Literatures in the Faculty of Language History and Geography. In 1995 the deparment gave its first graduates. During the first four semesters of the program the main lessons are about the greek grammar and language. On the other hand in the last four semester of the program examined the major literary genres like novel, story, poetry in the Modern Greek Literature. Students who are successful have the chance to go to the Greek Universities' summer language program with scholarship.
Goals
The department of Modern Greek History and Literature is a 4 year bachelor's degree program. During this 4 year the program aims to teach Greek as a foreign language. During this 4 year program as well as the Grek Language the students also get information about the important periods of Greece (history, literature, cinema and culture.) From the each student who graduate from this branch of the department expected to use effectively this language.
Summary of Program Outcomes
The student who graduates from this department use efficiently the translation techniques from Greek to Turkish and from Turkish to Greek. Gets the ability to follow developments in his/her branch also share information with his/her colleaques.
