About Program
As one of the Basic Sciences, Astronomy And Space Sciences is the science branch that investigate the structure, evolution, motion and mutual interactions of heavenly bodies. First of all, the Astronomy and Space Sciences Education Programme aims to give qualified teaching and education to rise scholars to be able to do those researches and investigations. During the first four semesters out of total eight semesters of the programme mainly dominated by Physics, Maths and Chemistry courses. Advanced astronomy and astrophysics courses are contained in the following last four semesters of the programme. The programme includes theoretical and applied courses.
Goals
Educate astronomers that can percieve fundamental astronomical concepts; has ability to three dimensional thinking, can percieve distance concept in astronomy, can has knowledge on diversity of heavenly bodies in space; has information about the common specifications of stars; has ability to write computer codes and/or use software packages to analyse the observed data of astronomical objects by using his/her knowledge on instrumentation to observe heavenly bodies; has developed thinking ability; open to new ideas and produce them; gained ability to do scientific research; can effectively use information and communications technologies.
Summary of Program Outcomes
Graduates are able to apply knowledge of mathematics, physics and chemistry to problems in the field of astronomy and space sciences; describe , model and solve basic problems in the field of astronomy and space sciences; Discuss micro properties of matter and making connections between these properties and astronomical structures
