About Program
The department of Animal Sciences consist of the fallowing sections: Animal Breeding, Feeds and Animal Feeding and Biometry and Genetics. The main fields of study the department of Animal Sciences include the production, feeding, genetics and breeding of the fallowing animals: large animals (cattle and buffalo), small animals (sheep and goat) and poultry (chicken, quail, turkey, goose, duck, ostrich), fur and laboratory animals and the other farm animals such as horse, camel, pig, rabbit and dog. Furthermore the fallowing special topics are also among topics of study of the Animal Sciences: breeding techniques of alternative animals, organic animal production, utilization of basic and alternative feed resources, making use of computer, technology and particularly biotechnology, planning of research and trials, preparing projects for animal production enterprises, organisations for animal production.
Goals
The purposes of the Animal Sciences are to educate Agricultural Engineers and to conduct research in the fallowing fields concerning the animals producing food for humans: their production, care, feeding and the improvement of their economical traits and their utilization.
Summary of Program Outcomes
The acquisition of general engineering notion on agriculture and fundamental science. Being informed on production items, the recognition of production systems for analyzing and designing. Being informed on environmental requirement, nutrition, management, housing and diseases in farm animals beside the management, the planning and projection of exploitation. The recognition of technological innovation and its possibility for application.
