About Program
Farm Structures and Irrigation, major branch of Agricultural Engineering, sometimes described as an Agricultural Civil Engineering can be defined as a science about the optimum use of land and water resources, the protection and development of these resources, in every stages of production the creation of all the required environmental conditions for proper planning of buildings and facilities, design and construction and providing structural and physical development and taking long-lasting effects measures for agricultural enterprises.
As related to the profession, courses are given related irrigation, drainage, hydrology, agricultural meteorology, irrigation structures, agricultural structures, land consolidation, rural settlement and environmental control, and applications in agriculture. Bachelors, Masters, and PhD education are included in the program.
Goals
1. Taking into account the national priorities, to give a theoretical and practical education about optimum utilization of the soil and water resources, conservation and development of these resources in advanced level, 2. To train an expert on related the protection of soil and water resources, the implementation of water-saving technologies, re-use of waste water, artificial wetlands, to design irrigation and drainage projects and management these systems. 3. To give an advanced theoretical and practical education about creation of the appropriate environmental conditions for agricultural production; all that is needed like designing and construction of building and facilities on the basis of Undergraduate education level. 4. To give theoretical and practical knowledge related to the rural settlement planning and land consolidation projects and implementation issues provided structural and physical development of agricultural enterprises. 5. To give knowledge about determining the effects of climate change on agricultural production and irrigation. 6. To achieve making research and developing project skills to gain in providing required environmental conditions for optimum efficiency of plant and animal production in agricultural enterprises, social and sustainable development in rural areas.
Summary of Program Outcomes
Graduate are able to define optimum utilization of the soil and water resources; carry out projects for protection of soil and water resources; evaluate the effects of climate change on agricultural activities; design irrigation and drainage projects for re-use of wastewater and artificial wetlands; monitor and transfer the advanced technology on farm structure and irrigation field.
