About Program
In the School of Dentistry; 1 professor, 1 expert and 3 research assistants and 2 units with the name of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery began service with the name in 1963. Minor operating room was opened in 1966. Maxillofacial Surgery service with 10 beds was opened in the Faculty of Medicine in 1967. Thus, the first inpatient services was generated in dentistry. In 1977 the building was moved to the Faculty of Dentistry in Beşevler began to serve in a part of the second floor. In 1983, Ankara University Faculty of Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Inpatient Services Regulations (1981) Following the publication of bed in the same building service department was opened. The entire second floor of the construction work in 1990 was of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery Department. In 2011, the name was renamed as Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery by Higher Education Department desicion..It is currently continuing education with 15 faculty members.
Goals
In department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in doctorate education the doctorate students are nurtured as researchers and academists who have knowledge to take charge in scientific researches, health, education. It is aimed to educate scientific doctors in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery who have knowledge in basic and clinical fields, making true diagnosis and treatment ethically, following the scientific and technological developments, trying to make their profession in a best way, improving themselves by the new knowledge, sharing information and who is open to new developments
Summary of Program Outcomes
Tooth extraction, abscess treatment, embedded in dental surgery, apical resection, taking biopsies, vestibuloplasty, sinus lift, alveolar correction, epulis removal, preprosthetic surgical procedures such as nerve repositioning, cyst surgery, dental implant, which concerns of Oral and Maxillofacial of the hard and soft tissues surgery of tumors, sinus plastic, hard and soft tissue grafting and reconstruction operations, conservative and surgical treatment of jaw fractures, dudak- cleft palate surgery, alveolar and maxillofacial distraction osteogenesis, orthognathic surgery, conservative and surgical treatment of temoromandibu joint disorders, oral diseases and oral lesions diagnosis and treatment of issues will have current and advanced information.
