About Program
Department of Biostatistics is an active department since 1995 and has 5 full time faculty members including 2 Professors, 2 Associate Professors and 1 Assistant Professor.The compulsory courses offered by the department are; Biostatistics I & II, Research Methods in Health Sciences, Biostatistical Consulting. The elective courses that aims to be familiar with the statistical methods and terminology used in the health sciences and to strenghten the theoretical knowledge are; Mathematical Statistics, Sampling Methods, Statistical Packages, Rates and Proportions, Introduction to Multivariate Analysis, Statistics for Health Sciences.
Goals
The aim of this graduate program is to train individuals who are able to: associate the theoretical knowledge acquired at the undergraduate level with health sciences; choose an appropriate research, sampling and analysis method suitable for the scientific research; perform analysis with the appropriate statistical softwares and interpret the results; collaborate with colleagues, health staff and affiliated sectors.
Summary of Program Outcomes
Students who complete this program are expected to; both plan and conduct studies in the health field, choose the appropriate statistical methods and interpret the results with relevant formulas for the data collected, keep up with the recent studies in the field, act upon the ethical principles of scientific research and avoid statistical bias.
