About Program
Applicants completed the 5 year dentistry education with a degree of “dentist” are admitted to the Restorative Dentistry PhD programme. PhD education in Restorative Dentistry aims at training academicians and researchers in Restorative Dentistry that are capable of taking part in scientific research, education and health.
Goals
To train and educate “doctor of sciences in Restorative Dentistry” that have knowledge in basic and clinical fields, are strongly bounded to ethical regulations, capable of performing all treatments in Restorative Dentistry, familiar with developing technology and take role in developing new technologies, analytical, problem-solver, able to reach and share information and open to new developments
Summary of Program Outcomes
1. By utilizing and synthesizing the basic knowledge on dentistry and Restorative Dentistry, analyzes and resolves problems, achieves unique outcomes and novel treatment methods and educates the community about these developments. 2. Knows and effectively utilizes the technical equipment and instruments used for diagnosis and treatment purposes in preventive, conservative and restorative dentistry applications. 3. Shows awareness about ethical and legal responsibilities against his/her patients and the community. 4. Conducts a search for a scientific research on clinical and basic sciences, performs a literature search on a specific topic, conducts hypothesis, develops study plans, completes the research experiment, analyzes the data statistically and shares the data as minimally one scientific paper in national/international peer-reviewed journals or as a presentation in scientific meetings. 5. Internalizes and gets fully equipped about preventive dentistry applications such as oral hygiene motivation, individual caries risk assessment, diet analysis; and offers service to community. 6. By cooperating interdisciplinary health professionals, evaluates individualized treatment options for preventive, functional and esthetic needs; develops a patient/condition based treatment plan and applies the treatment. 7. Follows the recent advances and offers clinical practice service to community with theoretical knowledge and practical skills gained. 8. Educates the patients and the community on etiologies and prevention of tooth hard tissue defects, motivates the patients for internalizing self-responsibilities. 9. Internalizes basic principles and knowledge on preventive, conservative and restorative dentistry treatments and combines this with recent evidence based information in professional practice. 10. Has a comprehensive knowledge on physical, mechanical, chemical and biocompatibility properties of restorative materials and assimilates the relationship between dental caries and microbiology
