About Program

Pharmaceutical Biotechnology Master Program has carried out under Pharmaceutical Technology Department since 1994.  In this program; there are projects, thesis and scientific papers releated to preparation of peptide-protein dosage forms and evaluation of stability properties, gene delivery systems, developing adjuvant vaccine formulations and investigation of targetting process. For the purpose of the program; compulsory and optional courses containing Biotechnology importance and applications, peptide-protein dosage form design, physical properties and stability of peptide-proteins, preparation and quality control of biotechnological products, biosimilars etc. theoretical and practical courses are given in the department.

Goals

Pharmaceutical biotechnology holds a very important place in biotechnology that using living tissues and cells (biological systems) to obtain the desired product, to monitor developments in the pharmaceutical industry and pharmacy, to investigate properties, stability and route of administration of pharmaceutical biotechnology products. For this purpose, the aim is to educate a scientific staff in determining the quality controls of biological/biotechnological products in pharmaceutical forms.

Summary of Program Outcomes

Pharmaceutical Biotechnology Programme aims to develop the following skills and knowledge: 1. Knowledge: Provide information of the production of pharmaceutical active ingredients using biological/biotechnological systems and their characteristics, stability, formulation in optimal drug delivery systems, quality control and appropriate route of administration, authorization and validation. 2. Skills: Development of pharmaceutical forms containing pharmaceutical active agent with biological origin and their control, inspection, quality assurance, excipients and drug delivery systems used in production, polymer knowledge. To gain theoretical and practical skills in the authorization and validation. 3. Attitude: scientific thinking about the subjects mentioned in the Purpose section and provide an improved attitude to bring about the realization of the subject by commenting.
