About Program
Ankara University, Department of Genetics has been established in 1995 and offers master education since 1995. The program contains both mandatory and elective lectures comprising theoretical genetic knowledge as well as molecular applications. These applications are practiced and maintained in the Laboratory of Molecular Genetics of the department. In accordance to the program, the department also employs three faculty members and a research assistant specialized in various subjects regarding animal genetics.
Goals
The purpose of the program is to train the qualified researcher personnel to work in the public institutions and private sector, which require the information about the animal genetics and breeding.
Summary of Program Outcomes
Graduates of the program have information on the topics below; concepts of the basic and molecular genetics, basic laboratory applications, databases related to animal genetics, veterinary genetics applications, inherited diseases, hereditary mechanisms, marker -assisted selection on livestock, measurement of biodiversity in animals.
