About Program
Currently 4 academic staff, which comprises 3 professors, 1 Associate Professor and 1 Research Assistant is present at the Department which was established for the first time under Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine on 29.05.1965 with the name “Department of Livestock Economics” and the name of department was changed in 2006 as “Department of Animal Health Economics and Management”. There are subjects such as basic economic concepts in livestock management, employement in rural economic development, inflation and national income calculations, supply-demand interaction and price description, input-output relations in production and economic optimization principles, basic management functions, organization in livestock sector and disease management and principles in livestock enterprises within the obligatory (Livestock Economics) and elective (Management in livestock enterprises, Animal Health Economics) courses.
Goals
For master degree students, the purpose of the program is to teach subjects such as input supply, production and marketing in livestock enterprises as well as basic economic and management concepts, to evaluate data from establishments under economic principles, to analyse subjects related with livestock economics with a detailed point of view, to detect problems and to help them acquire the ability to carry out independent researches.
Summary of Program Outcomes
The student who graduates from the program, has knowledge on the following topics; general economics and management economics, rural economic development and planning, livestock economics and management, animal health economics, project preparation and analysis, financing in livestock enterprises, organization, marketing and management. The student also acquires the ability to carry out scientific research and planning and to interprete the results, to acquire executive management ability, to implement micro and macro economic planning, project preparation and management functions.
