About Program

At the Department,  trainings for treatment of congenital, hereditary and acquired settlement irregularities of the teeth on the jaw and with respect to each other, disorders in the development of the jaws, disorders of the jaw position relative to each other, disorders associated with the jaw joint are given.

Orthodontics program; includes the orthodontic and orthopedic treatments made with the goal of having a healthy, functional and aesthetic masticatory system.

During the education, not only orthodontic treatment mehtods, but also protective, stopper and surgical orthodontic treatment methods are thought.

Goals

The aim of the program is to train the competent denstists who can diagnose abnormalities in functional status dentition, facial structures, detect deviations that might occur during the growth and development, create an orthodontic treatment plan and predict the course, evaluate the psychological impact of malocclusion and its treatment on patients, do protective and stopper orthodontic treatments, apply the simple and complex orthodontic-orthopedic treatment process, express his views on orthodontics related professionals, work with multidisciplinary teams during the orthognathic surgery or lip-palate cleft treatments, determine the orthodontic treatment need, apply orthodontic treatment with high quality and ethical values, benefit from the opportunities that exist to improve the professional skills, follow and assess orthodontic literature, take part in the studies with the basis for the scientific methodology, produce new knowledge and make critical evaluation of information, present clinical and research findings in written and oral form, meet the requirements of the country.

Summary of Program Outcomes

Using the independent learning activities on the subjects such as craniofacial growth and development, dental development, orthodontic anomalies, diagnostic methods in orthodontics, mobile appliances, protective and stopper orthodontic treatment applications, fixed orthodontic treatment techniques, tooth movement and biomechanics, Class I, II and III treatment of abnormalities, treatment of transverse and vertical anomalies, orthodontic treatment of impacted teeth, orthodontic treatment of periodontal problems, complications of orthodontic treatment, temporary anchorage applications, professional responsibility and ethics, research methodology, current and complementary treatment approaches, adult orthodontics, orthognathic surgery and distraction osteogenesis applications, orthodontic treatment in lip-palate clefts, relapse and consolidation therapy practice, professional legislation, first aid and emergency, the final competency is acquired.
