About Program
PhD Program at the Department
of Pediatric Dentistry is run by the Institute of Health Sciences. The program
covers a total of 8-10 semesters. The first four semesters are dedicated to PhD
courses and clinical training. A PhD candidate can begin working on a thesis
after passing a proficiency exam at the end of the fourth semester. PhD
candidates also participate in clinical services and teaching undergraduate
students.
Goals
The program is aimed at training capable and self-esteemed experts dedicated to self improvement in oral and dental health who can meet special needs of babies, children and adolescents in this field; participate in multidisciplinary studies and create projects in and contribte to health improvement.
Summary of Program Outcomes
A PhD candidate acquires up-to-date skills and advanced knowledge in the following areas at the end of this program: Craniofacial growth and development; dental and psychological development; behavioral management techniques; oral examination techniques; caries; dental restorative materials; temporomandibular joint dysfunction in children; trauma and its treatment in primary and permanent teeth; endodontic treatment in primary and young permanent teeth; preventive treatment in children in need of special care; minor orthodontic treatment; periodontal diseases and their treatment in children; preventive treatment in oral and dental health of the child.
