About Program

Candidates who successfully complete master’s programs may pursue Ph.D. programs as long as they meet the requirements. The Ph.D. program in hadith requires minimum two semesters of coursework during which the students must earn a total of at least 21 credits and complete a seminar. The candidates must be successful in the proficiency exams for the field in order to continue the program and start their research for the dissertations.

Goals

The goal of the Ph.D. Program in hadith is to train expert researchers with critical thinking skills, who would produce knowledge in the field of hadith, and who would share this knowledge with peers on national and international levels.

Summary of Program Outcomes

Discusses the narrations found in the principal hadith sources. Brings forward ideas on the soundness of these reports. Acquires knowledge and method that will help him/her contribute to Islamic studies in general and to hadith studies in particular. Analyzes hadiths through a questioning and investigative perpective.
