Hittitology  scientifically studies and researches “philology-linguistic, history, literature, art, architecture, law, religion, culture, social, economic, management, diplomatic data of Hittite civilization, which established the first strong political union in Anatolia, merging different societies and continued its culture for almost a thousand years, together with transcription, translation and studies of original (cuneiform and hieroglyphics) written documents (cuneiforms, stamps, monuments, stelae and etc.).

The discipline of Hittitology examines the original written documents of Hittites (tablets, seals, monuments, stelae, etc.), who for the first time established a powerful political union in Anatolia in the second millennium B.C., uniting various different communities, and lasting until ca. 700 B.C. The aim of this discipline is to throw light to the Hittite period of Anatolia by the study transliteration, translation with comments of the written sources in cuneiform script and hieroglyphics. Teaches the students how to examine the documents philologically, how to make research and evaluate the material of the Hittite period in view of history, literature, art, architecture, law, religion, culture, social life, economic and diplomatic relations.
