All the relationships that people in a physical environment create in social, cultural, economic and political contexts create the social environment. Department of Socio-Environmental Studies was founded in the academic year 1994-1995 by Ankara University Social Sciences Institute with the efforts of the scientists who came together for the first time at Ankara University in the Centre of Research and Implementation of Environmental Problems which was established in the middle of the 1980s. The program admits students for masters and PhD degrees. The goal of the program is to take the social, cultural, biological, physical and political dimensions of the environment as a whole and to approach environmental science with a holistic model. For this purpose, environment and ecology issues are discussed with an interdisciplinary approach in the postgraduate education program. Between 1996-2017, 87 students from master’s program and 78 students from Ph.D. program graduated.

For this purpose, environment and ecology issues are discussed with an interdisciplinary approach in the Phd education program.
