Geophysical Engineering Department was established in 1989 in Ankara University Faculty of Science. With the establishment of Faculty of Engineering in 2001, the department continued the undegraduate and gradute education under this faculty. The graduates of the department meet the needs of private and public companies. In addition the researchers and academics graduated from the program contributed to the other universities to establish their own geophysics departments. 

The aim of the program is to qualify candidates on the basis of doctorate qualifications, in order to make them able to carry on scientific and independent research that provide unique contributions to the community on universal level.

The graduates of the program have information Geophysical Engineering investigation methods with an advanced level of expertise field. Conducts independent research on specific problems. Makes independent measurements using the geophysical methods. Analyzes and interprets in-depth the measured data. Publishes and shares the results of the research by written and oral ways.  Contribute to the development of the information society.
