​​In Ankara University, The Geology education as bachelor's degree has been started in 1966 and Geological Engineering has been started in 1972. Our department tied to Ankara University Faculty of Engineering in 2001.Undergraduate, graduate and doctoral studies are ongoing then.

The aim of Ankara University Faculty of Engineering Department of Geological Engineering is to educate equipped people with the necessary knowledge of the geological engineering. Department constantly renews their demands for the development of the geology science and geological engineering profession. the department develops courses and applications by taking feedback in line with the public and private sectors. One of the goals of the department is to develop graduates as professionals to be mindful of lifelong learning. Graduates will adapt quickly in subjects. They are equipped with contemporary basic knowledge to identify problems and develop engineering solutions. Department of Geological Engineering do scientific research, aims to present research results as publications to the scientific world. In this context department takes PhD studies for a master's graduates to educate scientists for superior engineering formations.

Graduate students can improve the abililty of doing scientific research. They can evaluate and interpret the information.They can present the results of their researches to the world of science as papers and publications via oral or written paper. They focuse on research and development. They identify the problems related Geological Engineering and develop modern basics to solve them. They can work in individual or team.
