Pharmaceutical Chemistry means chemistry of pharmacy or medicine. It is concerned with

design, synthesis, structure elucidation, analysis, metabolism and structure activity relationships of new biologically active compounds. Pharmaceutical Chemistry is a scientific discipline that takes place under the division of Professional Pharmaceutical Sciences in Faculty of Pharmacy. This graduate program offers opportunity to do advanced scientific studies in this field.  

Pharmaceutical Chemistry is a branch of science that examines the biological, medical and pharmaceutical sciences all together in the study of developing lead compounds. It is concerned with the design and synthesis of biological active molecules, evaluation of their chemical structures, their qualitative and quantitative analysis, relationships between chemical structure and pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic characteristics, their mechanism of action and relationships between biologically activities and chemical structure. Within this scope scientific research, literature survey, knowledge about synthesis and nomenclature of heterocyclic compounds, peptides and other organic compounds is given. It is aimed to educate students about how to do studies on the synthesis of drug molecules safely in pharmaceutical chemistry laboratories, and give knowledge about medicinal chemistry, computer aided drug design, qualitative and quantitative analysis of drug molecules, synthesis in industry, biotransformation of drug molecules, and drug design based on metabolic pathways.

Gains skills about scientific research, planning scientific research and evaluation of their results, senior management, preparing and application of projects in Pharmaceutical Chemistry field. Has information about design, synthesis, structure elucidation, analysis by classical and instrumental methods, analyzing structure activity relationships by computer aided methods of new biologically active compounds.
