About Program
The Tourist Guidance program began training during the 1996-1997 academic year and has trained many guides in the tourism sector until today. In the program, training is given with the aim of meeting the needs of modern and educated employees required by the tourism sector. For this purpose, it is aimed to provide our students with appropriate equipment for tourist guidance in addition to the basic courses for the tourism sector, with the courses history, archeology, art history, psychology, mythology, geography, etc.
The education and training period of the program is four semesters and the language of education is Turkish. Students who wish to have the right to study in the English preparatory class for one year. 45 working days of internship is required at the end of the first year of the program. Internship training is carried out in travel agencies, hotels and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
The ones that want to have the Tourist Guide License, can get the Professional Tourist Guide License together with the condition of conformity to the below conditions according to the Guidance Occupation Law published at the year 2012. Graduates of the Tourism Guidance Program deserve to get Tourist Guide License after getting 75 or more grade from YDS and completion of the 45 days of Turkey tour (tour expenses are paid by the students) of Tourist Guidance Association (TUREB). Besides, TUREB has been opening foreign language exams for graduates of the guidance department. Oral exam is done at the 1 st stage of this exam and the passing students are wanted to make translations on the tourist guidance field. The ones that have taken a definite grade deserve the right of getting the Tourist Guide License after completion of the Turkey tour. Being able to master at least one foreign language in the profession of tourist guidance is the most important fact. Nowadays, it is possible to find many guides in widely used languages such as English, German, French and Spanish. Japanese Russian Arabic, such as the number of tourist guides is low, but the industry is more interested in tourist guides who know these languages.
As is known, a country rich in historical artifacts to Turkey is visited by many foreign tourists. At the same time, the frequency of domestic tourists departing abroad with package tours is increasingAll these show that the area of work in this profession is quite wide and that guides will be needed more in the future.

Graduates define national and international cultural elements related to guidance service. Having knowledge about the tourism industry and tourism marketing, travel agency and tour operator. Ability to follow the requirements at a professional level and use a foreign language to fulfill the applications. Ability to convey knowledge and skills on issues related to tourism, hotel and travel services through written and verbal communication.
