About Program

The main problematic of historical dimension is to examine the characteristics of education of civilizations existing since the beginning history of humanity and of Turkish Education History and comparing with other societies’ educational systems in a historical perspective. Within sociological dimension, the relation of education and society, education as a problem of main sociological theories, The development of Sociology of Education as a discipline through the world and country and its agenda are the main problems. 

This program is based upon an approach that studies and interprets education, which is one of the most fundamental subject areas in the history of humanity, in terms of its philosophical basis and analyzes education within the context of its relation to the other sciences. In this regard, the program deals with the developments both around the world and in the Turkish education system comparatively on a philosophical basis. In addition, the effects of current political and sociological developments on educational philosophy are analyzed.


Goals

The aim of this program is to make ready participants for academic study by supplying main knowledge about the main stages of history through the world and country, main sociological knowledge to make it possible evaluate the relation of education and society with a sociological perspective and by bringing a scientific viewpoint about these matters. This program is based upon an approach that studies and interprets education, which is one of the most fundamental subject areas in the history of humanity, in terms of its philosophical basis and analyzes education within the context of its relation to the other sciences. In this regard, the program deals with the developments both around the world and in the Turkish education system comparatively on a philosophical basis. In addition, the effects of current political and sociological developments on educational philosophy are analyzed.

Summary of Program Outcomes

One can examine and analyze historical documents and resources by using scientific research techniques and can use these findings to bring proposals for solving educational problems. He can interpret main subjects of sociology of education within a theoretical perspective and argue education and society through reflexivity. He gains sensitivity about the main problems of the field and conduct scientific studies; They examine and analyze the philosophical texts and sources, evaluate the given data in terms of the educational conditions of their own historical period and use them in order to develop suggestions for current problems in education.
