About Program
Within the Faculty of Political Sciences, dating back to 1859, our history starts with the establishment of Social Politics Division in 1960 by Prof. Cahit Talas. Giving the apellation of “Labour Economist” to their Bachelor’s Degree students, our department also offer Master of Arts and Philosopher’s Degree programs for graduate students.

Goals
The main purpose of Labour Economics and Industrial Relations Department in Faculty of Political Sciences is to equip our students with relevant knowledge about work relations and social policy, by aiming to pursue a program which; - Handles with policies regarding social peace and social justice, - Considers public welfare, and gives importance to individual freedoms and gender equality, - Elaborates work life in terms of its economical, legal, sociological and psychological aspects, - Makes use of both qualitative and quantitative methods, - Is based on creative, critical and analytical thought, - Stays up-to-date in terms of recent developments in work life across national and international platform.
Summary of Program Outcomes
Our graduates can explain the economical, legal, psychological and sociological aspects of work life theoretically. They form awareness in terms of sustaining social justice, social peace and work peace by focusing on wage policies, unemployment, work safety, job security, distribution of income, human resources practices and unionism. Besides, they analyze the work life with its local, regional and global aspects scientifically, in a historical context and under the light of contemporary developments.
