About Program
Prosthesis: Prosthesis is an artificial limb which made with the purpose of complementing the functions and/or appearance of amputee who lost his extremity congenital and acquired reasons such as accidents, illnesses.
Orthosis: Orthosis is a device that corrects malposture or skeletal deformity and provides immobilization of the injured area. And also assitive and functional effect for the paralitic extremities and trunk of the disabled people who lost their extremities' function congenital and acquired reasons such as accidents, illnesses.
Prosthetist Orthotist: Prosthetist Orthotist who is able to evaluate the individual's physical disability, who designs and manufactures custom orthosis and prosthesis, manufactures prosthetics and orthotics by designing joints and fittings that applies prosthetic and orthotic knowledge and skills to functional anatomy, biomechanics, kinesiology, materials, electrotechnology information in prosthetic and orthotic problems to the individual.
In order to graduate from Prosthetics Orthotics Undergraduate Program, it is necessary to succeed in the program courses, to complate the project and 171 credits.
The aim of the summer internship planned to be realized at the end of 6th semester in the Prosthetics Orthotics Program is to enable the student to acquire professional knowledge, skills and attitudes related to orthosis, prosthesis and to learn by practice. The internship is carried out under the supervision of the faculty lecturere and their assistants.
Those who graduate from the program are given the title of 'Prostheticist Ortotist'.
Goals
Purpose of the Orthotic Prosthetics program; To provide the foundation of Prosthetics and Orthotics discipline in the country. Intended to provide undergraduate education in Orthotics and Prosthetics, which is classified as Category 1 in the International Society for Prosthetic and Orthotics (ISPO) classification. Graduated prosthetist orthotists who contribute to university and industry cooperation and has a high adaptation to multidisciplinary orientation, innovative, potential inventions and added value in Prosthetics and Orthotics Science
Summary of Program Outcomes
Knows the prosthetic orthotic problem of the physically disabled person, design their health improvement and protective products, Scientific contribution and adaptation to production and uses technological products in its applications. By examining the properties and functions of these products, they can make new and original designs when necessary, can use prosthetic orthotic information and communication technologies. Today, the technology of robotics, electronics and control systems has entered into every aspect of life, with this tecnology is contributed by prosthetic orthotic knowledge and skill for use by reduced or lost disabiled person. In practice, they use interpersonal communication skills. With lifelong learning, it continues its individual development.Take part in educational and research projects. Adheres to international standard and ethical codes and conducts interdisciplinary team work.
